Who Am I?

I grew up a pretty big city about and hour and a half North of where we are now and while I liked animals growing up, like most girls, I didn't swoon over the, like I do now. If you had told me that I would obsess over a calf I would have smacked you but just look at the cutest calf EVER.

See her? She's so cute I can hardly stand it.

I made Jason turn around so I could remember her forever....in a JPEG.
She (?) just stands out, being different from the others.

This had nothing to do with a calf but the sky was dreamy that day.

Yes 20 years ago I would have thought my mom was crazy for turning around to talk about how cute this little creature is. Being around farms and ranches changes you.

Natural

On Sunday, just after my mom left from spending the weekend we decided it was time for Brin to try out her own little .22 rifle and her bow. My uncle bought my younger cousin a bow once and she never got into so Brin now has it.
It seems that my child is a natural when it comes to weapons. She can quickly hit her target, in the case of both her's and Jason's rifles, her shots always find their mark. The bow took her a whole four shots to get the hang of but she got it and LOVES it. She said she loves the bow better than the gun.

These three were stuck near the trucks most of the time. They still had fun watching.

Bones! We were on a friends land, they have cattle.

Her .22 had some repairs done and this was the first time she tried it out since.

Brin is Amaya's hero right now.

Disclaimer: Yes, we have firearms in our house and yes our oldest is allowed to handle them. My husband takes great care to ensure that she treats these weapons with respect and handles them in a safe manner. At home they are locked away safely, unloaded, with trigger locks and all ammunition is stored in a separate safe. Our children never have access to these without supervision, even I can't get the keys to the safes.
We strongly believe that giving our children the knowledge, experience, caution and respect is key to them behaving responsibly around all types of weapons.

Easter Exploration

I know this is a week late but that's alright isn't it? Brin spend Easter weekend with my parents after her dance competition so it was just us four to go on a little adventure.
just East of the village South of us is a medicine wheel, actually the first one in the first picture of that article, at Sundial Hill. I've never been to one before and it was super windy up there but very, very peaceful. A man came up just after us pointed out rock piles that he suspected were grave sites. We saw a buffalo herd, went for a trip through a field, my truck has never been in such steep terrain, there was also an angel in the sky.

They LOVED this rock.
The clouds were magic.
Right above Sundial Hill.

The girls loved it and we will probably visit more often before we move. Did I mention we're moving this summer?
Night, night!
