About 45 minutes away woman has some puppies for sale, and although I had seen the pictures online over the last couple of weeks I still had to look again. J caught sight of one and fell in love. We were planning on getting a dog at some point but not until we moved into a bigger house, we went to have a look at them anyways, they were too sweet not to. We didn't tell Brin we were planning on going but she overheard me calling the woman for her address (how come the only time she seems to listen well is when she's eavesdropping?).
We got there, took a look at the mama, who was recovering from getting fixed, there were twelve puppies in the litter and all survived, she seems tuckered out. It was in her best interest. Then we went out to see the puppies. They were all napping so we disturbed them.
It may have been because they were all waking up but none of them made a sound. They just wandered around, poked at us and a couple had a little wrestle. Apparently only one of them really barked often and the daughter seemed to be attached to him. They were all so sweet. Brin was overwhelmed with excitement, she was a bit wary because she ALWAYS thinks a dog is going to bite her, even when it's laying there quiet and happy. Baby A was pretty much in her happy place. She stood there smiling when the puppies examined her, hugged and kissed them all and was just happy. Baby B was terrified, I think it was because there were so many, but she didn't want to be put down.
We looked around, loved on most of them but J found the one from the picture and all the others just no longer existed. This is him and B waiting on the way to the van.
We went through a couple of names, the woman we bought him from called him Tank, he was the biggest. We started with Khonan, a variation on Conan, there is a story about this name, if you don;t know it and want to just ask and I will tell. I was beginning to give up and just call him that when J said he didn't really like it for him. He is now Kona, the babes can't say Khonan and were calling him Kona anyways. We love him, he's so sweet and so well behaved it's awesome.
Our biggest problem is Baby B chasing him on all fours with her lips puckerd. She's not scared of him at all when he's on his own. It's only been a couple days and he seems to be missing his brothers and sisters but he's fitting in well. I'm looking at all the potty on the carpet as a fire to get the carpet ripped out once he's house broken.
;)
